AP signs pact for helicopter tourism in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and Sky Chopper Logistics Pvt Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sky Choppers Logistics Private Limited for introduction of helicopter tourism in Visakhapatnam.

The company would be allotted almost two acres of land at VUDA park for construction of a helipad and three rooms to operate the services for payment of Rs. 50,000 per month to the VUDA. Two packages- one covering Kailasagiri to Bheemunipatnam and another covering the agency areas of Araku and Lammasingi will be offered. The fare will be worked out and announced later.

The helicopter ride from VUDA Park to Kailasagiri and back would take around seven minutes, while the ride to Araku Valley would take for around 20 minutes. Once VUDA completes the helipad, the company will obtain clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for operations.

The passengers will get an insurance cover of Rs. 1 million. The helicopter tourism is expected to commence from October 2016.
