Andhra Pradesh’s industrial growth has got a fillip with major ceramic industries like Kajaria Ceramics Limited, seeking land from the government to set up big plants in Thottemabadu mandal of Chittoor district. While Sri City SEZ has been attracting major investors in the AP -TN border, APIIC now has decided to set up a ceramic industrial cluster on around 2,000 acres in Thottembadu near Srikalahasti of Chittoor district.
APIIC zonal manager of Tirupati Mr E. Pratap said “Ceramic giant Kajaria ceramics has expressed interest to set up a plant with an initial investment of Rs 250 crore which may further go up to 2500 crore. They have asked for 150 acres. Other Gujarat based ceramic industries that make bathroom tiles and other products are coming forward to set up industries.” APIIC officials have filed a requisition with the rev-enue authorities for land. “Availability of govern-ment land and assigned land is a big advantage here. APIIC will be sending proposals regarding the cluster and the government will take a final decision on it.” said Mr Pratap.
