The delay on the centre declaring “special category” status to Andhra Pradesh is causing a collateral damage. While the number of documents registered in the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh have shown a growth of a whopping 30% over the similar period last year, the number of registrations and the revenue the government has earned through it, has fallen short of expectations.
But what is also important to note is that all the districts have contributed to this growth and no district, even the 4 Rayalaseema districts, has de-grown. But now that the special category status is not likely to be bestowed by the centre, AP needs to have alternative planning to meet the revenue shortfall.
