Centre approved the locations of the upcoming Indian Institute Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) to be setup in Andhra Pradesh. IIT and IISER will be setup in different villages of the Yerpedu mandal in Chittoor district while the IIM would be setup in Anandapuram on the out-skirts of Vizag. Established institutions like the IIT Chennai, IISER Pune and IIM Bangalore will mentor the new institutions in AP.
According to the government, IIT will be setup in Merlapaka village in Yerpedu mandal while IISER will be established in Panguru village in the same mandal in Chittoor district. ( Zoom the picture)

The state government said these locations have been approved by the Site Selection Committees deputed by the Union HRD ministry for establishing the premier institutions.
However, location for the proposed National Institute of Technology (NIT) is to be shifted from East Godavari district to Agirapalle village in Krishna district. Instead of the NIT, the Indian Institute of Information Technology (HIT) has been proposed for East Godavari district.
