Foundation stone for Signature Tower to be delayed
Steps to set foundation stone for the prestigious IT Signature Tower, planned by the state government, is likely to be delayed by at least four months because the government wants to design a really iconic building. To give a fillip to the IT sector in Vizag after it was severely battered by Hudhud, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced in the middle of October that the foundation for the proposed IT Signature Tower which will be an iconic building on the lines of Hyderabad’s Cyber Towers will be laid within a month. But plans are yet to materialise. “We are looking for the best design for the Signature Tower build-ing which will be an iconic structure for the IT sector for the entire state. Right now ground work is going on and it will take at least till March to finalise vari-ous issues and then a foundation stone will be laid,” said an IT & Com-munications depart-ment official. Around 21.6 acres of land on the Hill number 3 of the Madhurawada IT SEZ has already been finalised to build the Signature Tower. The iconic building will have 10 lakh square feet space on the lines of Cyber Towers in Hyderabad, which will form the nucleus of the IT sector in the state. This 21-odd acre vacant land was surrendered by the IBM after Kenexa Tech for which the APIIC had allotted the said land earlier, merged into the IT giant.
