From lush greens to a glass & steel capital city – Sorry to show you these photos one last time !!

The right banks of river Krishna comprising of the Thulluru, Amaravati and Mangalagiri areas are all highly irrigated, water abundant lush green fields where agriculture has always prospered. Now that these areas are the ones selected to host the new capital of the Andhra Pradesh, it would be worthwhile to know what is being lost forever.

The following photographs have been published in “The Hindu’. While the pros and cons of locating the capital here can be discussed forever, what can not be missed is that these pictures of Thulluru mandal can be seen for one last time as they will soon disappear for eternity.

While the new capital itself is most likely to be extremely well planned and eye-pleasing, areas outside the capital area may grow haphazardly into a one big real estate mess. The government needs to have a proper development plan for the entire Andhra Pradesh capital region comprising of the VGTM area so that eyesores like the one below do not develop in future.
